Looking at famous buildings from around the world, the pupils are hooked into learning about architecture. A letter arrives from the original designer of the Parthenon / Acropolis and explains the process of Greek temple design. Pupils are led through a notebook file of how to research, design and make their own temple and later write replies to Ictarus with their evaluations. An outstanding lesson with images, the letter from the designer, links to good videos etc - all you need (except Greek non fiction books or photocopies of relevant pages from books about temples) to teach background knowledge, engage pupils and teach literacy skills .
